Mablethorpe martial arts instructor charged with 13 child sex offences

A MABLETHORPE martial arts instructor has been charged by police with 13 alleged sexual offences involving children.

Adam Beniston, 27, of Seaholme Road, was charged on Tuesday for the alleged offences which include 11 counts of sexual activity involving a girl of under 16 (aged 14 at the time).

These include both penetrative and non-penetrative offences.

The two other charges are one of possessing indecent images of children and one of causing a child to engage in pornography.

Adam Beniston will appear at Skegness Magistrates Court on August 28.

He has been involved in the East Coast Martial Arts organisation in Mablethorpe, which has built up to over 100 members since being set up in 2009.

The ECMA academy has launched the sporting careers of a number of members.

He has coached a double world kickboxing champion, a world karate silver medallist and one double world kickboxing silver medallist.

He moved to the Lincolnshire coast from the Mansfield area three years ago.

He was crowned coach of the year at the Lincolnshire Sports Awards last year, an award handed to him by BBC Sport presenter Dan Walker, and was runner up in the overall sportsman award.

He was also nominated for the 2010 Leader Champions Awards in the Louth Leader in the Community Spirit category.

He is a former world and British kickboxing champion.
