A Warrant Officer who oversees the running of the 1228 Air Cadets in Mablethorpe has been awarded with a certificate of Meritorious Service.

WO Scott Gardiner recently attended the Trent Wing presentation evening that was held at RAF Digby.

He was presented with his prestigious award by Group Captain Nigel Gorman.

WO Gardiner has been recognised for his dedication, commitment and drive in moving Mablethorpe Air Cadets forward.

He provides cadets with a range of valuable and life changing experiences.#

Mablethorpe is the only detached flight in Trent Wing which is made up of 31 different squadrons and they always come out near the top when competing against much larger squadrons.

After receiving his award, WO Gardiner commented: “It is a privilege to receive such an award that recognises the hard work that we put in.

“I am proud to be a part of this organisation and to be recognised for the achievements makes it all worth while.

“To be given this award has to be one of the highlights of my Air Cadet career to date and I could not have done it without the great support from the staff and cadets so to them, I would like to say thank you.

“As a unit we prove ‘Nothing is Impossible’ by winning trophies and surprising ourselves with all of our achievements.”

Wing Commander Tony Wright said: “The squadron at Mablethorpe do truly punch well above their weight and are a unit to be proud of.

“It is thanks to Scott’s leadership and dedication that the area has such a successful unit. A big congratulations goes out to Scott on achieving such a prestigious award.”
