Marshchapel man (88) banned from driving

An 88-year-old man from Marshchapel has been disqualified from driving after he was caught driving a car on the A16 without a valid licence or insurance.

Rex Kemp, of Littlefield Lane, committed the offences on the A16 at Holton le Clay on April 18 last year.

Kemp pleaded guilty to both offences under the Single Justice Procedure at a Lincoln Magistrates’ Court hearing on November 2 last year, and appeared at the same court on February 21 for sentencing.

For driving without valid third-party insurance, Kemp’s driving record was endorsed with six penalty points, which resulted in him being disqualified from driving for six months.

The court said this sentence was obligatory due to his ‘repeat offending’.

He was also fined £300, and ordered to pay £85 in court costs and a £30 victim surcharge.

He received no separate penalty for driving without a valid licence.
