Monks’ Dyke pupils are booked up for national reading scheme

MONKS’ Dyke Technology College has taken part in the national Booked Up reading scheme, funded by the Department for Education.

All Year 7 students were able to select a free book from the Booked Up catalogue.

There were 17 exciting titles to choose from and according to students, choosing was a very difficult task.

Gill Ingamells, College Librarian, said: “Encouraging children to read for pleasure is one of our main aims here in college, so this scheme is ideal.”

Sammie Marshall, one of the Year 7 students, said: “A book written by one of my favourite authors was amongst the choices so my decision was simple”.

Both Imogen Lyons and Emma Love said: “The selection of books was good and it was difficult to choose just one”.

Pupil Chelsea Shaw said: “My choice was a book that I could share with my sisters so it will get lots of use”.

Booked Up’s goal is to encourage reading for pleasure.
