MONKS’ Dyke Tennyson College is celebrating after gaining accreditation for an International School Award.

For the last 12 months the college has been working with schools overseas, arranging activities and foreign visits, as well as hosting overseas visitors to get the award from the British Council.

Vice Principal of Monks’ Dyke Tennyson College (Louth) Mike Eyre said: “This is fantastic recognition for the work that the school does both in college and overseas, helping to raise our students’ awareness of difficulties faced by other students in other cultures and countries“.

Activities over the year included exchange visits with Ghana and a dance company giving a workshop where students were taught different facial expressions and even learnt the 4,000 year old Kathakali alphabet sign language.

In recognition of all their hard work, a certificate was awarded to the college.

Students have already started working towards the next award in three years’ time.
