THE Lincolnshire Wolds Railway kicked off its 2011 season with a special Mother’s Day event, when every mum who travelled on the train received a complementary rose.

Visiting the railway while on holiday near Sleaford was Davina Ford from Gosport, Hampshire, pictured with her four year old son Ethan.

“This was our first visit and we really enjoyed our ride on the train” said Davina. “Ethan is a big Thomas fan and simply loves steam engines and getting the Mother’s Day rose was a lovely surprise”.

The next event at the railway is the Easter Steam Gala on April 23, 24 and 25.

“We’ll have an action-packed three days lined up with plenty of steam locos and other attractions to delight young and old” said LWR spokesman Gordon Newton.
