Louth Town Council is encouraging anyone who is interested in standing as a town councillor at the forthcoming elections on 7th May 2015 to come along to an open evening event later this month.
The event will take place on Tuesday February 24 from 6pm to 8pm at The Sessions House in Eastgate, Louth.
Prospective candidates will have the opportunity to meet the Town Clerk and have a chat with current town councillors.
They can also gather more information on eligibility, what would be expected of a councillor in general, where each of the seven wards that make up Louth Town Parish cover, and what Louth Council and it’s employees do.
There will be display material and handouts to take away to allow candidates to come to an informed decision before entering the election process which commences on March 1.
For anyone who cannot attend on this date the Town Clerk, Mrs Linda Blankley, is happy to make alternative arrangements.
Linda can be contacted by telephone on 01507 355895, or by calling in to The Sessions House during office hours (9am until 1pm, Monday to Friday).
The display material and handouts will be available until nominations close, and further information can be found at the National Association of Local Council website at www.nalc.gov.uk.
You can also visit www.louthtowncouncil.gov.uk for more information about local councillors and the work of Louth Town Council.
