Ploughing match raises £460

STEPHEN Campion provided the hospitality at Glebe Farm, West Barkwith, for a Vintage Ploughing Match in aid of the St Mary’s Church, East Barkwith Tower Restoration Fund, and £460 was raised.

The ploughing match was organised by John Plowright of the Lincolnshire and Newark Vintage Ploughing Association and due to the very wet conditions, thanks are due to Colin Fincham for towing out stranded vehicles and cleaning up the road afterwards.

Other helpers on the day included Jean Bray who donated and cooked a supply of hot snacks, Yvonne Wilson, Maxine Gibson and B Spencer who ran the raffle and William Stamp and Jack Ward who helped set up.

Perkins George Mawer and Co of Market Rasen provided sponsorship and Mr and Mrs Denis and Doreen Mitchell supplied drinking water.
