Poet Dennis Carter visits Lacey Gardens School Louth

Visiting poet Dennis Carter from Shropshire enthralled pupils at Lacey Gardens School in Louth.

He showed them his work and inspired children to write their own poetry.

Dennis has been a poet for more than 40 years and contributes poems to CBeebies Poetry Pie.

His latest book which he showed the children is Shadow on the Run.

It includes the poem Our New Vacuum Cleaner: “We’ve got a brand new vacuum cleaner, like the other but much meaner. It sucked the lace out of my shoe. It sucked Dad’s socks and swallowed them too. It nearly sucked my sister off the loo.”
