Following three purse thefts in Louth town centre last weekend (March 21), a further report of attempted theft has been made and the police are now searching for a female offender.

PC Rick Ornsby said: “A fourth person reported that they had stopped someone attempting to remove their purse from their handbag. The offender is described as a female of medium build, approximately 5’ 4” tall, wearing a blue head scarf, dark puffa jacket, brown boots and large sunglasses.

“Shoppers are advised to keep handbags securely fastened at all times and to be vigilant, especially in busy shops. Your local Neighbourhood Policing Team periodically has purse bells to give away, so make contact with the PCSOs in your area to check if any are available.”

Anyone with information should contact PC Ornsby by dialling 101 and quoting incident number 306 of March 21.
