The man hotly tipped to take on the leadership of East Lindsey District Council from the retiring Doreen Stephenson, Craig Leyland, has retained his Woodhall Spa seat.
The Conservative polled 1,589 votes and joins fellow Tory Helen Gorst, 1,357 votes, in representing the ward, defeating the Greens in third and Labour in fourth.
Turnout was 69.73%.
A delighted Craig Leyland put his triumph down to hard work and said he is proud to represent Woodhall Spa and looks forward to representing residents for the next four years.
James Gilbert, Communications manager for ELDC, revealed the new council leader is likely to be announced on May 20.
