You could make money by renting out a room

People across East Lindsey are being urged to rent out spare rooms through a website.

With a significant demand on housing in East Lindsey and with reductions being made by the Government to the housing benefit paid to some families who are considered to live in a home bigger than their need, East Lindsey District Council is encouraging families to consider whether is a way for them to increase income.

For those on benefits, however, it is important to seek advice about how this would impact upon their benefit circumstances.

Those people renting a room could make as much as £350 per month.

Furthermore, live in landlords letting furnished accommodation in their own home to a lodger can get this income tax-free under the ‘rent a room’ scheme if the landlord’s total income is £4,250 or less.
