365 people attended Tesco’s exhibition last week as the supermarket giant displayed proposals for a new Tesco and petrol station in Mablethorpe with a majority of 93 per cent giving the proposals the thumbs up.

The exhibition was held at the Mablethorpe Library and Community Access Centre.

Residents and community representatives were able to meet Tesco representatives, view drawings of the store and petrol station, ask questions and were also able to provide feedback. For those interested, there was an opportunity to register an early expression of interest in working at Tesco.

Residents expressed support based on their views for improved food shopping choice and a reduction in journeys outside of Mablethorpe to do food shopping. There was also great support for the new petrol station and job creation the build will bring.

Tesco corporate affairs manager, Simon Petar said: “We are humbled with the level of support our proposal has generated. The community agrees with us that Golf Road is an improved location for our supermarket in Mablethorpe as it will allow for a bigger store with more shopping choice and will create many more jobs.”
