The new president of the Louth Lions has said it is a ‘great honour’ to take on the role, following her coronation on Thursday (June 30).

The Louth and District Lions Club welcomed their new president Ros Webber-Jones into the role at a special meeting, where she took over from Mark Langley who was president for the
past 12 months.

Ros thanked Mark for all his hard work over the past 12 months, on behalf of herself and the club, and she will now retain the role until June 2017.

Ros said: “It is a great honour to take over as the 48th President of Louth and District Lions for the
2016 - 2017 year, and I thank my fellow Lions for the trust they have placed in me.

“Following in the footsteps of past presidents, all of whom have successfully brought their own brand of leadership, organisation and
vigour to the role, is an onerous task and I promise to do my best to rise to the challenge.

“Since its inception, Louth and District Lions Club has proudly served the local community. We have supported many underprivileged adults and children by fund-raising, for example, funds raised through the Duck Race, Tractor Rally, Bike Night, The Classic Car Event, the Golf Day, Casino Nights and Santa’s Sleigh have enabled us to donate time and money to many worthy
causes and organisations.

“Very recently, we have helped, amongst others, Covenham Sailability, County Linx Radio, Louth and Barnabus Hospices and Louth First Responders.

“We are also part of Lions Club International, the largest and most active service club organisation in the world, with an excess of 1.3 million members operating in 206 countries through 46,000 clubs worldwide.”

Ros continued: “My aims for this year are to build on the work of the past whilst looking to the future and to ensure that fellowship and social
bonding provides a strong Lions team working in situations where ordinary people enjoy helping those
in need.

“We also need to continue developing our work with
the youth of the town and district and to grow our membership.”
