The Rotary Club of Louth is again to carry out a collection of discarded Christmas Trees from homes after Christmas to enable them to be chipped and to raise money for local charities.
This is being done after a very successful initial start being made on such a scheme last year which raised £500.
As there is no green waste collection at this time of the year this prevents people from having to use fuel on a trip to the tip during the limited times it is open, and also they get no needles in their cars.
Collections are in Louth Town and a five mile radius and a minimum donation of £4 for charity is required, and the members of the club voluntarily pick the tree up on the day booked.
The collections will be on Saturday and Sunda, January 5 and 6.
