THIS year saw the first Aby Rugby World Cup at The Railway Tavern, Aby, which is renowned for it’s versions of the Olympics and Football World Cup competitions and more.

This time 20 of the locals represented the teams and the ones that had made it through to the last eight braved the weather to complete the tournament.

The quarter finlaists consisted of Doug Buck (Australia), Paula Parker (Samoa), Paul O’Keefe (Georgia), Dawn Davey (Japan), Tina Wood (Wales), Terry Darby (Italy), Mick Wood (Canada) and Bryan Parker (Argentina).

Unforunately England, Ireland and Scotland were all knocked out before the quarter finals.

Winner was Paul O’Keefe, 2nd Bryan Parker, 3rd Terry Darby and 4th Paula Parker.

Landlady Dawn Jacklin said thank you to Andy Thorndike of Focus signs for making the board for the tournament and Keith Atkinson of Louth Trophy Centre for the wonderful trophy which was presented to Paul.

Everyone is now in training for the Pub Week events and Summer Olympics.
