THE first ever survey of seaweed along the east coast has begun this summer.
The Lincolnshire Wildlife Trust is working with partners to co-ordinate Seaweed East, a scheme which will see a team of surveyors exploring locations from Essex to Northumberland.
At each site all species of seaweed will be recorded and samples taken.
There are around 650 species of seaweed in the UK.
Its health and abundance reveals details of the overall health of an environment.
