Sir Peter Tapsell gives Syria warning in House

SIR Peter Tapsell has spoken out about the bloodshed in Syria.

The Louth and Horncastle MP was speaking in the House of Commons during foreign office questions last week.

He asked Foreign Secretary William Hague: “While my right honourable friend strives to halt the tragic loss of life in Syria, will he also be mindful of Harold Macmillan’s advice that one should never underestimate the capacity of a middle eastern state to replace a bad government by an even worse one - or, may I add, by no effective government at all, which could create even greater bloodshed?”

Mr Hague replied they always listened to Macmillan’s words and to his.
