Louth and Horncastle MP Sir Peter Tapsell met Mike Eyre, the new Principal of Monks’ Dyke Tennyson College, when he paid a visit to the Louth campus.

Sir Peter was keen to hear from Mr Eyre about the many successes of the college and how many students are based on the Louth and the Mablethorpe sites.

During the visit he met Sixth Form Politics students.

He joked to them about being an MP and said: “I have been 53 years in the House of Commons and the only real reason I have stayed on is that my wife has never asked me back for lunch.”

On being the Father of the House he told them: “Everyone is very kind to me.”
