Nurses and midwives in Lincolnshire are signing up to a ‘new vision for the provision of compassionate, caring healthcare’.

The Chief Nursing Officer for England, Jane Cummings, recently launched a three year vision and strategy for nursing, midwifery and care staff with the ‘6Cs’ at the heart of all care: Care, Compassion, Competence, Communication, Courage and Commitment. In Lincolnshire, the three local providers, namely United Lincolnshire Hospitals NHS Trust, Lincolnshire Community Health Services NHS Trust and Lincolnshire Partnership NHS Foundation Trust, have signed up to the 6Cs and they will be rolled out to all staff within the coming months.

Director of Nursing at ULHT, Eiri Jones, said: “While these are not new concepts, the aim is to provide nurses, midwives and care staff with a clear focus for care delivery. It provides a framework based on values so we offer patients the best care we can, and this will become our local strategy.

“Here in ULHT we are wholeheartedly behind this vision and will expect all of our nursing and midwifery staff to uphold these values. Indeed, we have agreed that this not roll out to all staff groups, which has been agreed by our Board.”

The three local providers will be working together to measure the impact of this vision.
