THE Ludborough based Lincolnshire Wolds Railway is preparing for one of its biggest events of the year.
The 1940s Weekend, which takes place on Saturday and Sunday September 10 and 11, has developed into a real community event, with the local villages of North Thoresby and Fulstow also taking part.
Visitors will be able to take nostalgic trip down memory lane with attractions including a Spitfire aircraft on the ground at Ludborough, military re-enactors, displays of military and vintage vehicles and farm machinery, black market stalls, 1940s music and a fly-past by the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight.
“The 40s Weekend is now one of the most popular events in our calendar and people come in their thousands each September to take part or just enjoy themselves” said LWR spokesman Gordon Newton.
A full steam train service will operate between Ludborough and North Thoresby throughout the weekend and a vintage bus service will also run between the villages and the railway.
Advance train tickets for the event can booked via the railway’s website www.lincolnshirewoldsrailway.co.uk.
