Story of life on the farm

FRED Parker was a special guest at the monthly meeting of the Donington on Bain Forget Me Not Club when he entertained the members with his story of From Boy to Man on the Farm.

He was introduced by Jean Thompson and recalled his life in agriculture from the hard times when horses provided the power and explained how the work changed as gradually machines took over and the workforce reduced dramatically in numbers as everything became mechanised.

His local dialect amused the newer residents who were not always able to understand it, but all enjoyed his interesting tale of life in the countryside.

He was thanked by Jean for sharing his time with them and tea, coffee and cakes were served afterwards by Mollie Hackett, Maurice Hackett and Jean Thompson as the prizes were drawn in the raffle.
