A brave man is bracing himself to undergo a back wax at the Grimsby Institute’s Graduate Salon in Louth to raise £1,000 for the family support work of Home-Start East Lindsey.
Determined grandfather Stuart Waumsley of Louth will be taking the pain of his first time back wax on Friday April 19.
He and the students at the salon are calling for people to give their support.
Through the home-visiting volunteer work his daughter had done for Home-Start, Stuart was aware of the difference it can make to families and children and he decided to make a difference himself.
He said: “On Father’s day last year, I was thinking about what it takes to be a father and decided I wanted to make a contribution to the work of Home-Start but I wanted it to be a significant contribution.
“A thousand pounds will be a real boost to their work so I set this as my target. I have every faith in the students at the salon but know it is still going to be a very painful experience, but I have decided that I am willing to take the pain to help other families through their hard times.”
Students at the Graduate Salon have agreed to do the waxing and are really getting behind Stuart’s pledge.
They are organising a series of fundraising activities during the week leading up to the back wax starting on Monday April 15, including a beauty treatment raffle, face painting and a back massage marathon with a relaxing back massage for just £4.
In recognition of the Stuart’s effort, local hairdressers and beauty salons are also making donations and collections to support the pledge.
The fundraising is in full swing but there is still a long way to go before Stuart can get his full back wax!
Donations can be made on Stuart’s justgiving page www.justgiving.com/Stuart-Waumsley and to find out more about the activities at the Louth Graduate Salon call 01507 611031.
