Sutton on Sea WI celebrate 90th birthday

Sutton On Sea’s WI are celebrating their 90th birthday after being formed in April 1923. In the early days, MP for Louth, Mrs Wintringham suggested to her friend, Margaret Smyth, who was daughter of the vicar of St Clements Church, to form a WI in Sutton on Sea.

Other founder members include Mrs Chandler, Miss Brennard and Miss Mattock. The choir plays a big part of the WI, which has a large membership. The choir is under the guidance of Anne Wilford. They will be celebrating the big milestone with a birthday party including a cake and entertainment by a folk group including Terri, Nigel and Tom.
