Members of the Louth & District Networking Group Chris Wain, Alan Nesbitt and Michael Watts handed over 60 sweet packs to Tracey Ruddock of Home-Start, East Lindsey for Christmas treats for the children of families being looked after by the charity in the area.

The money for the sweets was raised by the group in the run up to Christmas.

Treasurer of the group Alan Nesbitt said: “We wanted to raise money to help a local charity and to give something back to the community.

“As local business people we are very much aware of how families can struggle this time of year and so thought helping Home-Start children was the right thing to do.”

The sweets were provided by Jassies sweetshop in Louth, which also contributed to the campaign.

Home-Start is a local charity offering support, friendship and practical help to families in East Lindsey with at least one child aged eight or under. Families struggle to cope for many reasons, it may be financial hardship, relationship breakdown, post-natal illness, domestic abuse, isolation or simply being overwhelmed with the pressures of raising young children.

Volunteers visit families at home for two to three hours a week to reduce isolation, increase parent confidence and offer them the skills and resources they need to give their children the best possible start in life.

Tracey Ruddocks said: “On behalf of Home-Start I would like to say a big thank you to the group for the donation of sweets.

“Many families struggle to cope raising young children and Christmas can be especially difficult.

“These sweet gifts will help put some smiles on children’s faces and contribute to present giving.

“Many thanks to everyone who has contributed.”

The networking group is made up of local businesses throughout Louth and has been running for over seven years and meets the first Tuesday of every month at the Brakenborough Hotel.
