A team of Joshua Spowage’s colleagues and friends have completed the gruelling Yorkshire Three Peak Challenge in his memory.
‘Team Josh’ took on the challenge on Saturday April 18, just one week before the anniversary of their friend’s tragic death at the age of 24 last year.
The team - consisting of Claire Briggs, Lindsey Thomas, Abi Wherry, Julie Grant, Stacie Watts, Tina Hudson, Kelly Grebby, Sue Telfer, Sarah Louise Astall and Deborah Olsen - took just 10 and a half hours to complete the mammoth task.
Josh’s mum, Liz, said: “I am immensely proud of them all, and I would like to give my thanks to them for their beautiful tribute.
“It was a really nice weekend, but a really emotional one too.”
The team has raised more than £3,500 so far, with more donations still yet to be collected.
The money will be split between Josh’s favourite charity, Cancer Research UK, and the mental health charity Mind.
You can still make donations by visiting www.justgiving.com/stacie-watts1 (for Mind) or visit www.justgiving.com/stacie-watts2 (for Cancer Research UK).
You can also make a cash donation at Linzi’s Hair Salon in Mercer Row.
The owner of the salon, Lindsey Thomas, was one of Josh’s friends and colleagues.
Lindsey said: “We took on this challenge in memory of Josh, and to help raise money for two wonderful charities.
“We did it to make his mum proud and show that Josh will never be forgotten.”
The whole team would like to thank their friends and families, plus all the customers at Linzi’s Hair Salon, Aura Health and Beauty, Hair Therapy, and Michael Tryner who supplied the high-visibility jackets to the team.
• There will be a ‘Viva Forever’ party at The Scene night club in Lincoln on May 9, starting at 8.30pm, to celebrate Josh’s life.
