Residents in North Thoresby will finally get to see the installation of a new play facility - after being without one for over a decade.
The village has tried tirelessly for 11 years to gain funding for a recreational area but to no avail - until now.
Fund raising group chairman Stuart Turner puts the recent success down to a “fresh” new group approach.
He said: “Various projects were tried in the past and it was thought a group approach would give fresh impetus.
“We have now just received confirmation of all the funding we need.”
The group, made up of community members, managed to secure funding from multiple sources including LCC and ELDC.
Mr Turner has also praised the generosity of local residents as “a great motivating force.”
He added:“New and current owners of the New Inn have raised well over £2,000 with charity nights.
“Both the Parish Council and local people have also made generous contributions.
“One couple donated £200 which is amazing.”
Mr Turner says professionalism when campaigning is paramount.
He said: “We had to make sure the group was properly constituted and effective research was done.
“We have utilised all our existing skills to create official positions and spread the workload.”
“We delivered questionnaires to the school to get the kids’ input and show there was real need of a play area The park will be wonderful.”
It is hoped that the park will open in September this year.
