Travelling criminals steal from Mablethorpe hairdressers

Police have warned small businesses in the Lincolnshire and Humberside area about a group of three travelling criminals who have stolen items whilst distracting staff members. The latest incident took place at a hairdressing salon in Mablethorpe yesterday (Thursday March 6) at 5.10pm.

PCSO Sally Read, from the Louth Rural Neighbourhood Policing Team, said that iPhones and purses left behind on shop counters are being targetted.

The three people who entered the salon are described as follows: One female in her late 20’s with very long dark hair, a black leather bomber jacket and black trousers; a male in his late 20’s/early 30’s with a black leather jacket and black clothes; and a young boy (age 9-10) with a tanned jacket and a beige beany hat. All three suspects are described as being ‘of foreign appearance’ and are believed to be of Romanian origin.

PCSO Read said: “We are also aware that a group fitting this description were in the Humberside area yesterday where five similar incidents were reported to Humberside Police. The incidents were reported in Scunthorpe, Grimsby and Cleethorpes. We are keen to trace any vehicles that this group may be using.

“Please pass this message onto any friends or family who own or run any shops, especially hair salons, florists, or other small shops.”
