Tributes were paid to chief executive Nigel Howells at a special meeting of East Lindsey District Council to consider his request for early retirement.
However, none of what was said can be reported because the press and public were barred from attending the proceedings.
The minutes of the meeting, which have now been published on the authority’s website, state: “The leader of the council, group leaders and chairmen, past and present, all paid tribute to the work undertaken by Mr Howells as chief executive.”
No details have been released of the early retirement package proposed for the 56-year-old who has been on sickness leave since Easter.
It has not been announced whether Mr Howells, who is originally from Portsmouth, will remain on the board of Compass Point Business Services Ltd - the private company which provides back office services for ELDC and South Holland District Council.
