Trusthorpe man banned from driving after he helped a friend in need

A Trusthorpe man, who drove to help a friend in difficulty, has been disqualified from driving after using his car while he was over the alcohol limit.

Adrian Howard Russell, 32, of Rossa Lane, admitted driving with excess alcohol in Church Lane, Mablethorpe on December 9. Prosecuting, Paul Wood said Russell was stopped by police at 12.30am and failed a roadside breath test with a reading of 51 microgrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath.

In defence, Andrea Wilkes said Russell had gone out celebrating Christmas with friends and took a taxi to and from the pub and when he got home, he received a call from a friend who had been set upon at the pub.

Russell was fined £250, £85 costs and £25 victim surcharge. He was banned from driving for 12 months but offered the drink drivers course which would cut it by three months.
