UPDATE: An iPad Mini which was handed in at a Lincolnshire police station before Christmas has been returned to its owner thanks to a widespread appeal on social media.

Lincolnshire Police said that the iPad had been stolen from a car at a picnic site in the village of Martin, near Woodhall Spa, on September 6.

The offender smashed the car window and stole a handbag which contained the iPad.

The gadget was later found in some woodlands and handed in to Horncastle Police Station.

After the iPad had been dried out and tested an appeal was launched via social media, and by yesterday evening (January 6) the owner had been tracked down.

Police have reopened the investigation into the theft, in light of the evidence being recovered.
