UPDATED: Eight fire crews tackle house blaze in Marshchapel

9.39pm - Crews are scaling down their efforts to tackle a fire that has torn through a house in Marshchapel tonight.

Crews from Louth, North Somercotes and Humberside have been on the scene in Sea Dyke Way since shortly before 6pm this evening (Tuesday).

The house is a two story 25m by 25m building and fire is believed to have started in the roof.

Breathing apparatus have been withdrawn and one main jet and two hose reels are being used to dampen down.

A resident on the scene said she counted EIGHT fire crews in attendance at one point.

Motorists are urged to avoid the area as the road is currently closed.

A building inspector has been called in to look at the chimney of the house.
