A delightful upstairs/downstairs drama is set to open Louth Film Club’s new season.
‘The Second Mother’ - a humorous and gently perceptive film from Brazil will be shown on Monday, February 8.
Tradition and establishment are given an engaging examination as the estranged daughter of a live-in housekeeper brings chaos to an organised family life.
The film opens the club’s 2016/2017 season which incorporates 26 films from a wide range of countries.
In addition, a French film festival is being held every Monday in September and on October 3.
Chair Paul Hill commented: “Many of the films are award-winning. Some are particularly challenging, some are lighter, some more uplifting.
“The quality of the story, humanity and cinematic skill are, as ever, our criteria for selection.”
The film starts at 7.30pm at the Playhouse Cinema in Cannon Street, Louth.
Entry is £4 for LFC members, £6.90 for non-members and £5.50 for concessions.
The annual membership fee has been held at only £10 (or £8 for existing members renewing by 31 January 2016 for five years.
