A scheme for 149 new homes to be built on a field on the outskirts of Louth has been shown the red card by East Lindsey councillors.
At a district council planning committee meeting, members voted 12-1 to refuse an outline application by Taylor Wimpey to develop the greenfield site off Fulmar Drive.
The emphatic refusal decision came against the recommendation of planning officers Chris Panton and Paul Thompson who pointed out the potential difficulty the council would have if Taylor Wimpey decided to challenge the decision by appealing to an independent inspector
Mr Panton explained that, subject to certain conditions being met, bodies such as Lincolnshire Highways and the Environment Agency saw no reason to oppose the scheme.
