Village party plans for the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee

A COMMITTEE has now been formed to carry out the arrangements to help celebrate the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee in East Barkwith following a public meeting held in the village hall.

The chairman of the Parish Council Andy Sayers welcomed those who attended when the plan drawn up earlier in the year for a street party was considered again and it was agreed to go ahead.

It was suggested that part of Torrington Lane could be closed for the party, to be held on the Sunday although there was concern that those attending would need to cross the main road to use toilets at the village hall. The Parish Council could provide a grant towards the cost.
