Viola player to start Spring concerts

Star viola player Shiry Rashkovsky starts the Louth International Concert Series Spring Programme on Thursday February 20 at 7.30pm at the Salvation Army Hall.

Shiry Rashkovsky is one of a number of younger stars of the viola who have emerged in recent years. Born in London to a musical family, Shiry began her musical education aged five under her violinist parents, and later studied at the Royal College of Music.

She has won numerous prizes and her performances have taken her across the globe to such venues as the Tel Aviv Opera House and Geneva Victoria Hall, including engagements for HRH Prince Charles and the Emperor and Empress of Japan. She has premiered new works and continues to promote new solo viola pieces.

Her programme in Louth includes substantial sonatas by Brahms and Shostakovich, and showcase pieces by Enescu, Vieuxtemps and Jongen.
