Older people shopping in Sutton on Sea can be sure to be greeted with a warm welcome as five businesses on the High Street have been recognised as Age Friendly.
The TED Age Friendly Business Award looks at a number of criteria, including customer comfort, staff training and attitude, access, age friendly marketing, membership of a trade body or statutory
scheme and demonstrating a commitment to being an age friendly employer.
The Bacchus Hotel, Boots Pharmacy, Bennetts Butchers, Watson’s Home Hardware and Gregorys Mobility have all achieved age friendly status.
TED project manager Neil Clurow said: “It is now clear that businesses in East Lindsey are aware of the importance of responding to the needs of an ageing consumer and at the same time are enthusiastic about helping our project reduce isolation and loneliness.
“We’ve coined the phrase ‘social shopping’ and this is exactly what the scheme is seeking to achieve. Traders are doing a great job engaging with older people.”
