The widow of North Somercotes man, Wayne Jennings, has released a statement after Jareth Wadner was found not guilty of manslaughter today (March 19), following a four-day trial.

In a statement released after the verdict, Wayne Jennings’ widow, Julie, said: “Wayne was a devoted and loving husband and father and is missed terribly by all who knew and loved him. It has been devastating and heart-breaking for us to lose our precious husband and father in such tragic and pointless circumstances.

“The hole left in our lives when Wayne was taken from us will always be there and can never be filled. The future that we would have had together as a family has been destroyed. None of our plans, hopes and dreams will ever come true.

“To lose someone who our entire world evolved around has been so very hard to come to terms with and the trial and months leading up to it has been an incredibly harrowing time for the whole family.

“This not guilty verdict is devastating and extremely disappointing and gives us no justice or helps us explain how Wayne’s life was so wastefully taken from us. Without Wayne here, the truth will never be told.”
