A Withern running enthusiast is lacing up his running shoes, ready to pound the pavement at the Hull Marathon to raise funds for the Emma-Jayne Memorial Fund.

Steve Windsor,58, who is part of Louth Athletic Club will be taking part in the tough 26.2-mile run on September 13 and is hoping to raise as much money for the cause as he can.

The memorial fund was set up by local fundraisers Ruth and Tony Knowles from Sutton on Sea who run the highly popular Memorial Fund Bikeathon event at The Splash at Little Cawthorpe near Louth and Steve wants to help them with their cause.

“I know Tony and Ruth well after I helped them organise the 10K run at their annual bikeathon event and I believe in their cause,” Steve explained.

“I would also like to do something to give back to Hull Royal Infirmary’s Neurosurgical Unit who they raise money for.

“My daughter had the same condition as their daughter did and she sadly died when she was four in 1983, so I know how vital the funding is for Hull. I have trained hard for the last 12-16 weeks and I am hoping to raise a target of £500. I am at the £200 mark so far.”
