Work to stop sewers collapsing in village

ANGLIAN Water will be carrying out work to reline ageing sewers in Withern this month.

Workmen are due to start on Monday February 6 in Church Lane.

Sewerage pipes will be relined with a soft felt ‘sock’ impregnated with resin. Once in place, steam is pumped in, reacting with the resin to make it set and create a robust rigid lining. This reduces the risk of sewers collapsing.

In some places, where the pipe has deteriorated or partially collapsed, the section of pipe will be replaced before it is lined.
