Young roller derby fan helps set up Mods & Blockers event

A ROLLER derby fanatic from Louth is helping to organise a major event in Grimsby.

Sharon Leese is a member of The Imposters Rollergirls team and loves the roller skating contact sport which is rapidly growing in popularity amongst young women in the UK.

It took off in America and was popularised by the 2009 film Whip It directed by Drew Barrymore.

Sharon, a student at Lincoln University, is helping to organise a Mods & Blockers event on Saturday January 15 at Grimsby Leisure Centre from 12noon.

It will see a game between the Imposters and the Manchester Roller Derby team.

Sharon’s sister Emma took the photo which features on the promotional poster for the event.
