Development is crucial to the future success of Mablethorpe

EDITOR – I respond to M Beech’s letter (September 9, 2011) regarding the development of Mablethorpe and suggesting that the development take place along Trusthorpe and Sutton on Sea.

I would remind this person that Sutton on Sea and Trusthorpe are both ‘villages’ not a TOWN like Mablethorpe, and I don’t know of any villages that have a development of housing, superstore, pub and sports complex in them.

Mablethorpe IS dying. You have only to open your eyes to see it happening, and it has been happening for a long time now.

Who says Trusthorpe desperately needs housing? We are a tiny village with very few people, the bulk of all residents mostly being in Mablethorpe.

Sutton on Sea is made up mostly of elderly residents, retired, especially around the Sandilands area.

I think this is just a cop-out of trying to not let Mablethorpe be brought into the 21st century. It desperately needs an injection of development, and healthy business competition never hurt anyone.
