We have received an e-mail from 38 degrees regarding the proposal by this government to allow fracking to take place in the Horncastle and Louth areas without having to get the authority of local people or councils.
We think you will be interested in this as we are told that on average 74% of the public are very much against fracking. If the government manage to get this through parliament in a few weeks time, knowing the feeling of the vast majority, it will be totally undemocratic.
It would be marvellous if The Louth Leader could get behind this petition by informing its readers of what is planned and thereby joining virtually all the environmental campaigning groups to protect the Great British Countryside from fracking.
Our guess is that we have got a bigger local majority than the quoted 74% nationally so the more people who sign any or all of these petitions, the louder our message will be.
