LETTER: Memories of Louth Cattle Market

I have been connected with Louth market since 1935.

My father was in the livestock haulage and I have kept livestock since 1935, selling pigs in the market, later on selling cattle.

I can remember where the market stands was a pit called the Quarry and was filled in with household rubbish etc, it was filled in from Upgate.

The present market is the third one I have seen, the first one was on Newmarket next to Boars Head. Where the sheep market is now was a pit filled in.
