LETTER: New Louth mayor snubbs Louth’s children who waited in torrential rain for 25 mins before he arrived

At the Mayor’s welcome parade on Sunday I was part of a local brownie group as a helper. The children waited for the Mayor in torrential rain, already wet to the skin, following the parade for a service in St. James’ Church when the parade was over. The parade returned to the market place, expecting the Mayor to make an appearance, but because it was still raining, he didn’t bother. Was he afraid of getting wet? What an insult to the children who had waited and got wet to the skin! Disgusting behaviour from a person of such high office.
