LETTER: The cost of development in Louth

There appears to be a lull at present in the plans to cover Louth’s green fields with houses.

However with £millions to be made by a select few, we can be certain that this lull is just temporary and more planning proposals will appear in the near future.

However, there are three inescapable facts, which could severely impact the residents of Louth, which are:-

1) Water run off from rain is far more sudden and severe from land covered by houses than from land covered by plants

2) Water always runs down hill

3) Louth is in a valley and is down hill from the North, South and West. . Even Eastfield road in the East has hills on one side.

Thus building any where around Louth centre is likely to severely impact Louth residents. – a fact which the ELDC would be wise to remember.
