Letter: Windfarm visibility

EDITOR - The degree of visibility from Mablethorpe beach of the proposed Triton Knoll wind turbines can be easily calculated.

At a distance of 20 miles, without taking into account refraction of the light rays caused by variations in the air density, only the bottom 195 feet of the turbines will be hidden below the horizon.

Taking refraction into account only the bottom 167 feet will be hidden.

The maximum tip height of the rotor is 755 feet, so therefore up to 588 feet in height of the uppermost parts of the turbines will be visible.
