Park and ride scheme the way forward for our towns

EDITOR – Concerning parking in Louth. Why not a park and ride system? There is one not far from me on the outskirts of Nottingham beside the horse racecourse.

Park your car, buy your ticket, get on the regular bus there and ride direct into the town centre.

You can get off at various stops; the buses are suitable for pushchairs and wheelchairs.

No having to look or wait for a car park space, so effortless, and regular buses for the return journey.

This would be ideal for Louth with its limited parking. The same for Mablethorpe and Skegness during the height of the holiday season.

Come on councillors, consider it! Traffic and parking will only become more so as the years pass.

So parking outside towns may be the only option.

Plus – less petrol fumes in town can only be a good thing.
