All attention was on Louth Cricket Club’s 2nd team this weekend as the 1sts match at Market Rasen in the ECB Premier was called off.
And the 2nds did not disappoint, sealing a six wicket win at home to Cherry Willingham 2nds.
Louth won the toss and elected to bowl. It proved a smart decision. Regardt Koen and Phil Nicholson taking early wickets from Matt Good and Jack McGill for a duck.
Resistance came from Lee Coupland, 18, and Andrew Johnson, 40. But when Jason Fisher bowled both of them, with catches being made by Kully Bains and Steve Wright, Cherry capitulated and were all out for 86, Fisher returning an incredible six wickets for just seven runs.
Steve Wright and Richard Bell got things off to a good start for Louth in reply, Wright hitting 34 and Bell 13.
John Medler will be upset going for a duck, but Mark Duell added 5 and Kully Bains, 16 not out, and Phil Burell, 12 not out, saw Louth home and dry.
On Sunday there was action in the East Lindsey Cricket League Division 1 as Louth Taverners travelled to face Skegness 1sts.
Skegness won the toss and elected to bat, putting 181 on the board. Louth fell just short, posting 150 all out.
This Saturday, May 3, Louth 1sts face a tough test away at Woodhall Spa in the Lincolnshire ECB Premier and the 2nds welcome Alkborough to London Road.
