CRICKET: Rain spoils Louth’s hunt for first Lincolnshire ECB win

Louth Cricket Club 1sts posted a strong target of 253 for Lindum to chase in the ECB Premier on Saturday.

But they never got the chance to challenge the Lindum batsmen with ball in hand as the heavens opened and the match was abandoned.

A similar fate befell the 2nd XI as well. They were at home to Scunthorpe and posted 186 for 7, John Medler top scoring with 51.

But again the rain came and the match was abandoned before Louth could bowl a single ball.

Louth 3rds did complete their match away at Scunthorpe 3rds - but didn’t get the desired result either.

The home side won the toss and elected to bat, reaching 228 for 5 in their 45 overs, Ethan Payne the pick of Louths bowlers, taking three wickets for just 14 runs.

In reply opener Matthew Stephens was the star for Louth, hitting an undefeated 54. Sadly he did not get enough support from his teammates and Louth were restricted to just 149 for 8 in their 45 overs.

Louth 1sts welcome Sleaford 1sts to town on Saturday while the 2nds travel to Appleby Frodingham 2nds and the 3rds welcome Caistor 3rds.
